Who we are
Rubÿtone is a guitar shop, workshop, and collection of things that probably shouldn’t have worked but did.
Our website is rubytone.org.
We respect your privacy. We also have no particular interest in knowing things about you that we don’t need to know.
What Information We Collect
If you contact us through the website, we may receive the information you choose to provide—such as your name, email address, phone number, or whatever information you include in your message.
If you purchase something from us, we may collect the information necessary to process the transaction and get the thing to you.
The website may also automatically receive basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, or device information. This is ordinary website plumbing and is not something we use to build a dossier on you.
Cookies
This website may use cookies and similar technologies necessary for it to function properly.
Cookies may also be used by services that help us operate the site or process transactions.
We don’t use cookies because we enjoy cookies. We use them when the technology requires them for the website to work.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may cause parts of the website to stop working as intended.
Embedded Content and Third-Party Services
Some pages may contain content or links from other websites—for example, videos, social-media content, payment services, or other third-party material.
When you interact with those services, you are dealing with those companies, not Rubÿtone. Their own privacy policies and terms may apply.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we don’t operate.
How We Use Your Information
Information you provide to us is used for ordinary business purposes, such as:
- responding to your questions;
- communicating with you about an order or project;
- processing purchases or payments;
- delivering products or services; and
- maintaining and improving the website.
We don’t sell your personal information.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep information for as long as we reasonably need it for the purpose for which it was provided, for legitimate business purposes, or as required by law.
If you contact us about a guitar, for example, it may be useful for us to remember that conversation later. We don’t consider that an invitation to keep everything forever.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding the personal information we hold about you, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of that information.
If you would like to make such a request, contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate it.
There may be information we are required to retain for legal, financial, security, or other legitimate business reasons.
Where Your Data Goes
Information submitted through this website may pass through the third-party services we use to operate the website, communicate with customers, process payments, or provide other necessary functions.
Those services may process information on our behalf and may have their own privacy policies.
We don’t pretend to control the entire internet. We do, however, try to be reasonable about whom we share your information with.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the website, the business, or the laws governing it change.
The current version of this policy will always be posted here.
Contact
If you have a question about privacy or about information we may have about you, contact Rubÿtone through the contact information provided on this website.
This is much cleaner than the inherited WordPress version and removes the Gravatar/Automattic language, password-reset language, WordPress login-cookie details, and other developer leftovers that don’t belong unless you’re actually using those features.
One caveat: before I would call this the final legal version, I’d want to check what Rubÿtone actually uses for payments, contact forms, analytics, embedded videos, mailing lists, and cookies. Those details determine whether we need to name any particular third parties or add a couple of legally required disclosures.
