Start with a Rubÿtone you love, a Garage project, a found object, a favorite part—or simply an idea you already have.
Start with a finished Rubÿtone. Buy one that’s available, or use any Rubÿtone in the Archive as inspiration for your own.
Choose a project from the Rubÿtone Garage. We’ll develop it together and finish it for you.
Start with an object, a part, a sound, a need—or just an idea. We’ll figure out the rest together.
You might already know exactly what you want, or you might only know what caught your attention. We can start with an existing Rubÿtone, a Garage project, a favorite component, something you’ve been saving, or an idea you’d like to explore.
From there, we’ll work out the scale, construction, electronics, amplifier, materials and details that make sense for the instrument.
To begin this exciting journey, we invite you to contribute at least one item that you can’t bear to part with, even though it may no longer serve its original purpose. Perhaps it’s your grandma’s turkey roaster lid, your dad’s bolo tie, or your uncle’s broken Telecaster neck. These items will be incorporated into the design of your guitar, adding a layer of personal meaning and creating a truly one-of-a-kind instrument. Don’t worry, we’ll find a way to make it work!

Once you’ve explored the categories, it’s time to delve into the details and consider every feature of your custom guitar. From headstock styles (3+3, 6 on a side, headless, or scroll) to scale lengths (17″, 19″, 22.75″, standard, 27″, 30″, 34″), neck and fingerboard woods, and body types (viola, violin, cello, plastic toy body, solid body), the possibilities are endless.
And if you happen to stumble upon a guitar on our site that is currently out of stock, don’t despair! We can create a custom copy that will likely surpass the original in terms of quality and craftsmanship.
Commissioning a custom Rubytone guitar is an investment in a truly unique and personal instrument. We are confident that you will treasure it for years to come.
It depends on how you want to sort them. Maybe two kinds, f-hole, and non-f-hole Rubÿtones.
Or maybe 3 kinds; hollow bodies, mini, and simple construction. However, some of those that are designed with simple construction are also hollow bodies, and some of the mini guitars are simple, while others are hollow.
Honestly, every Rubÿtone is unique, so there is only one kind.
Before you start dreaming up the possibilities, we encourage you to explore our website and familiarize yourself with the various guitar categories we offer:
* **Hollow Body:** Known for their warm, resonant tones and exceptional sustain, hollow body guitars are perfect for jazz, blues, and other genres where a rich, full sound is desired.
* **Simple:** These guitars are stripped down to the essentials, offering a minimalist aesthetic and focused performance. Ideal for players who appreciate straightforward functionality and raw tone.
* **Mini:** Compact and portable, mini guitars are perfect for travel, practice, or anyone who prefers a smaller instrument. Don't let their size fool you; these guitars pack a surprising punch.
You should make up your mind how much you can spend and we can converge on what design, features and materials will fit with your budget.
What have you been holding on to for sentimental reasons that you never use it but wouldn't want to part with it? Can it be incorporated in the design of the guitar?
What kind of headstock?
What kind of neck?
What kind of bridge?
What kind of body?
etc.
